Q: What is consignment?

A: Consignment is to place items under another's care with the provision that payment is expected only on completed sales and that unsold items may be returned to the one consigning. A small percentage of the sale is retained by the event coordinators to defray the cost of the location, setup, and advertising to attract buyers on your behalf.

Q: Why is a consignment sale event better for the consignor than a yard sale?

A: The consignor does not have to be present during the sale, advertise a sale, or setup/dismantle a sale. The consignor will also obtain a higher price for items over conventional yard sale merchandise, because even a few items will be grouped and organized to optimize selection for a broad base of consumers searching for  very specific merchandise. A consignment sale event generally draws a broad base of interested buyers, not casual shoppers found at a yard sale!!  Unlike a yard sale, buyers do not ask for a discounted price.

Q: Why is a consignment sale event  better for the buyer than a yard sale?

A: Merchandise is centralized in one specific location without the need to drive around trying to find specific sizes. The event is  held rain or shine, with safe parking. Restrictions to consignors result in only better to best condition merchandise for the buyer.

Q: Why is a FindersKeepers4Kids Sale Event better than a traditional consignment shop?

A:  For the consignor, you set your own prices and receive a significantly higher percentage than at a consignment shop.  You are also able to claim your unsold merchandise the next day. (Consignment shops keep your items for several months. Our location provides an uncluttered shopping experience for mothers. Assistance with larger  purchases will be available.

Q: How do I prepare my items for the sale?

A: Please see Consignor Instructions for details.

Q: What does it cost me to participate?

A: Other than a $10 registration fee, only the time to register, tag, and set up  your items! Remember-- with just ONE referral you can recover your registration fee! There is no limit on how many referrals you can earn, but only one consignor can be given credit per referral.  The registration fee and applicable bonuses will be addressed in your earnings check. No money is necessary prior to the sale.  (Please note that your referring consignor should  mention your name when they register, and  must participate  in the sale for your bonus to be applied).

Q: How much money can I make?

A: The first sale  you participate with, you keep 70% of the sales price. Consignors returning to CONSECUTIVE sales keep 75%! If you miss a sale, then you start over at 70%.  You set the price you would like to receive! Prices are not negotiable at the sale.  These are the consignors' prices, and we must honor their wishes.

Q: When will I receive my money?

A: Bringing a self-addressed, business-sized,  stamped envelope with your consignor number on the front  will expedite our mailing a check to you. Look for it within 10 business days from the day of  the sale.

Q: What happens to my items that do not sell?

A: If you choose, you may retrieve your unsold items between NOON-1:00pm  on Saturday.  Remember, you may pick up your items at any time to accommodate your schedule, but the longer they are there, the best chance they have of being sold.   Any unclaimed items after 1:00 PM become the property of Finderskeepers4kids to donate to various local charities.

Q: Can I reuse my consignor number for future sales?

A: We agree that this would facilitate tagging.  You may request to keep your number for the next sale when you register.  If the number has not already been assigned, you may  keep it.  Calling soon after a  sale to register for the next will increase your chances of it being available.  E-mail registrants--do not assume  you can keep the number until you have received confirmation.

**Reminder-take care where clothing is stored between sales. They will still need to look and smell clean and fresh.**

Q: Can I sell items that are not kid-related?

A:  Shelving units,  bookcases, video cases or dressers, anything that could remotely be used by kids is acceptable. Be creative!
