- These website guidelines are strictly adhered to so that the sale runs smoothly. Please familiarize yourself with them.
- Pre-register to obtain a consignor number.
- Prepare your items for the sale. (See below for details).
- Price and tag your items at home. (See below for details).
- Deliver and set up your items during the new and extended hours of 8-11:30am on Friday morning, April 17, 2009, at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center. Everyone must exit the room prior to the consignor-only sale, which begins at 12:30pm.
- *Bring along a business - sized, (4 1/8 by 9 1/2"), self-addressed, stamped envelope when you deliver and set up your items. Write your consignor number on the front of the envelope. Due to the extra labor and expense involved when no envelope is provided, we will now charge a $1 fee from your sales for this omission. Thanks for your extra care in this matter.
- Look for your check within ten business days following the sale! We would appreciate checks being cashed within two weeks so that we can assure everyone received their checks. If you do not receive a check within ten business days, call us immediately!
- Unsold items you wish to retrieve can be collected Saturday, April 18, 2009 between NOON-1:00pm. To protect consignors from theft, we will quickly check through your items and compare your consignor number and name with our files before you leave. Since so many consignors return early to shop during the half price hour, we are extending the half price sale to two hours. We appreciate your cooperation in exiting the room by 1pm punctually, so we can dismantle the room.
- *Change: The half price sale is now extended. It will be two hours, 10 to 12:00. Please bring your items for purchase to the checkouts promptly. We hope the extra hour of half price sales will enable 12-1pm to be focused on the collecting your unsold items. We must promptly begin dismantling the room at 1pm in order to stay within our rental agreement time frame.
Item Preparation
- All items must be in good to excellent condition, complete, without excessive balling or worn knees, stain free, current styles, freshly laundered, knees unsoiled....you get the picture. Our reputation is at stake! We will inspect the items for "sub-optimals", and they will be placed on a table in the lobby along with items which lose their tags. This includes toys for which working batteries were not included and off-season clothing. Feel free to check this table before leaving to see if any of your items are there at any time. (Tags may be replaced and items returned to the sale room, if you wish).
- Clothes must be on hangers. Using wire hangers as much as possible will save space. These are available at WalMart, Dollar Stores and dry cleaning facilities. Sorry, hangers cannot be returned, but you will be keeping the hangers of any clothing you purchase. Extra hangers found on the floor of the sale room will be placed on the "sub-optimals" table, and are available for you to take home. Some people like to personalize their hangers in some way for easy retrieval. We just ask that you not use markers, as we have found they sometimes "bleed" onto yours or others' items.
- Clothes must be neat with all buttons buttoned, zippers working and zipped closed. Remember, clothes presented at their best will sell the quickest!
- With item on hanger, please orient hook opening towards the left, as you are facing it.
- Shoes should be secured together in pairs. (If easier, place in an appropriately sized Zip-Lock bag and tape top only of your index card or 2x4" yard sale tags to the bag. (Please do not write directly on bags). This also works for small toys and games.
- Battery - run toys must be in operating condition. Cheap batteries at the dollar store are available. Those not working will be placed on the "sub-standard" table in the lobby.
7. Puzzles and games must be in good condition and complete. We don't have time to check every item, so we hope you will be trustworthy with the condition of the items you bring.
Price and Tag Instructions
-
Due to your suggestions and requests, we will now accept yard sale tags with the string at the top (2 1/4 x 4 3/4" size) for your price tags. The string may be looped over the hanger hook. We have found that these often fall off, so do not highly recommend them. We recommend that you continue to use the 3x5 cards.
-
(*Special Note*) Please use extreme care to place articles to the RIGHT of the provided size markers. Do not only look to see where other clothing marked as your sizes are located. We have found that if one person places their clothing in the wrong area, many others follow. If your clothing is not hanging in the correctly designated area, you will miss out on sales.....guaranteed. Don't let your labor be in vain. Please look for the SIZE MARKERS, and then place your items to the RIGHT of them. We do not have time to check ever items' location. Take the time to look for the marker--it is for your best sales interest.
-
If using index cards, please secure the 3 x 5 cards vertically with a safety pin at top on what would be the LEFT shoulder if you were wearing it. (This will be the opposite shoulder from the hanger hooks' direction).
-
Straight pins are not recommended. Items without tags are not sellable, and straight pins often become detached. Secure tags to non-clothing items with clear packing tape leaving the bottom half free to facilitate check out.
-
Place information on the tag as follows: Center Top~ Size (in numerical sizes, not S-M-L); Bottom left~ Your consignor number; Bottom right~ Your asking price. See diagram below.
-
*NEW* Please price items in $1.00 increments. Prices not correctly marked will be sold at the next lower $1.00 increment.
-
We have had feedback that items are "more expensive". We do not control the pricing, and the consignors often ask what to charge. We have noticed that most clothing items in the $3-$5 range sell best. Coats or dresses seem to go a little higher. If you mark your items too high, they may be passed by. You might wish to go for a slightly lower price, and keep it "firm".
*Note: Please write "firm" next to prices you do not wish to be reduced during the half -price sale. This will be less confusing to buyers.**
Special Details
-
All items must be tagged prior to set up.
-
Items NOT accepted: stuffed toys, cribs with slats wider than a soda can, recalled items, maternity clothing, car seats.
-
*NEW* Due to limitations of space in our present location, we will temporarily need to ask you not to bring bedding to the sale.
-
Short descriptions of your items under the size will help us replace tags that inadvertantly fall off during the sale. This is not required, but helpful.
-
FindersKeepers4Kids is not responsible for lost items, stolen items, missing parts, damage to items during the sale, or the misuse of any items or injuries sustained with items purchased from sale. Nor are we able to guarantee how many items you will sell. Set your prices carefully! We suggest $3-$5 for single articles of clothing and shoes. You know what you paid for them..so it's really up to you. Try to be competitive in your pricing, or your items may be passed by.
-
It is the buyers' reponsibility to double check that all toys or clothing items are working and complete prior to purchase. All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges will be made.
-
Cash or checks with valid PA Drivers License are accepted methods of payment.
-
Assistance is available, if required.
-
FindersKeepers4Kids reserves the right to reject any and all items that are too large, or do not meet the established requirements.
-
We request at least 15 small items per consignor.
-
*NEW* No more than 50-60 hanging items each, please. We are finding that a few people are bringing too many items, and there is not enough space for everyone's items to be adequately displayed in our present location.
-
Large items are always welcome without a minimum number. If you bring large pieces of furniture, we ask that you return to claim them at the end of the sale, should they not be sold.
-
Finderskeepers4kids reserves the right to limit inordinately large dropoffs. Every consignor deserves space and opportunity for sales. This sale is really for moms, and we strive to provide adequate space for their items.
-
Pre-sorting hung items by gender and size facilitates set up.
-
We appreciate your cooperation, advertising and hard work ! We want this sale to run as smoothly as possible for YOU!
-
***SPECIAL NOTE*** We've heard your requests! Previous consignor numbers may now be requested when you register for the next sale, and may be granted if they have not already been assigned. E-mail registrants--be careful! Do not assume you have the same number until it has been confirmed by FK4K staff! We respond in two days or less-if you haven't heard back-please try us again. Sometimes our responding e-mails are blocked by your computers. Always feel free to call (717) 445-7428 with concerns, comments or questions.
-
Any tags that appear to have been tampered with will not be sold. They will be placed on the table for the owner to pick up.
